Learning your mammals
Pacific Rim Conservation researchers study a colony of endangered Laysan Albatrosses (Phoebastria immutabilis) on Oahu. Like most oceanic island nesting birds, the albatrosses have evolved in a complete absence of ground mammals. The chick will, however, will live his 70 years knowing that mammals come with sun hats and binoculars.
